The highly anticipated patch notes for *Cyberpunk 2077*’s Edgerunners 2 Update (Version 2.5) have been released, outlining significant additions to the world of Night City. The update is scheduled to roll out on PC, Mac (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on October 22nd. Players on the Nintendo Switch 2 and the Mac App Store version are expected to receive the update shortly after these platforms.
New Narrative and Cosmetic Content
The update introduces new content related to the *Edgerunners* storyline. A new side quest titled “Clampdown,” which takes place prior to the events of *Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2*, is now available. To unlock this content, players must complete “The Heist” and two gigs for the character Wakako, and then await a subsequent message from her.
In terms of gear and aesthetics, players can acquire a new five-piece gear set themed around the character King, which is obtainable while progressing through the “Clampdown” side quest. Furthermore, a new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, has been added, featuring a curated selection of tracks from the *Cyberpunk: Edgerunners* series.
A substantial collection of new clothing has been added to Night City. Five distinct outfit sets are available for purchase from various vendors: Maxiwear (found in Heywood, Arroyo, and Little China); Jinguji (available in City Center); NetWatch (located in Kabuki and Japantown); IconAmerica (found in Pacifica, Badlands, and Northside). Additionally, the NUS Infiltrator clothing set can now be bought from vendors in Kabuki and Japantown.
The customization options have also been expanded significantly. Players can now customize their hand cyberware by visiting one of five Glamdocs (marked with a spray paint icon on the map). These unique shops each feature their own introductory scene, voiceover, and animations, offering a unique selection of cyberware skins with customizable colors. Cosmetic additions include new hairstyles, some previously restricted to NPCs, and four new TWINTONE skins for the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech, accessible through Twitch Drops.
Gameplay Enhancements and Systems
Several gameplay systems have received major overhauls. The “Cool” skill tree now features a new Double Trouble perk, along with four supporting auxiliary perks. This addition fundamentally changes playstyle by enabling players to dual-wield Pistols and Revolvers from the Power category.
The Photo Mode has been upgraded with new features, including frames sourced from the Cyberpunk Trading Card Game, allowing players to style shots as custom cards. New poses have also been integrated into Photo Mode to complement the dual-wielding combat style.
World exploration includes two notable additions. First, a side quest titled “Welcome to Paradise” guides players through a mystery and an exploratory tour of Night City, narrated by Richard Night. This quest becomes accessible after completing “The Heist” and reaching Level 15 Street Cred. Second, the Tarot menu has been updated with the addition of 12 Minor Arcana Tarot Cards, expanding the existing Major and Minor Arcana sections. These new cards are part of an extension of the “Fool on the Hill” side quest, and collecting them all grants a special reward.
Technology and Modding
The technical capabilities of the game have seen major improvements. Developers have added support for DLSS 4.5, which includes both up to 6X Multi Frame Generation and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, alongside the 2nd Generation Transformer Model. Furthermore, the game now supports glasses-free 3D effects on compatible Samsung Odyssey 3D monitors, accompanied by a Motion Comfort setting to balance depth and viewing ease.
A major feature addition is cross-platform mod support, powered by mod.io. This feature enables players to browse and install a selection of user-created modifications directly from the in-game menu, marking the first step toward comprehensive cross-platform modding. This feature is available on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Quality of Life and Technical Fixes
Numerous quality-of-life improvements have been implemented. Save files in the “Load Game” menu are now organized into separate groups corresponding to different playthroughs. Additionally, item filtering has been added to both apartment and vehicle stashes, and modded saves are clearly indicated with a dedicated icon in the “Load Game” menu. On console platforms, a Field Of View (FOV) slider has been implemented, and the selection of AMD FSR options has been refined, retaining FSR 2.1, FSR 4, and FSR 3.1 Frame Generation while removing FSR 3 upscaling.
Performance and rendering technology received updates, including improved HDR rendering for more accurate color, brightness, and contrast on compatible displays, and added support for MetalFX Frame Interpolation. Various performance optimizations were introduced, specifically improving Ray Tracing and PlayStation 5 Pro performance.
The patch also addressed several specific technical issues, such as fixing a bug on Nintendo Switch 2 that could cause “Save failed – insufficient space” errors, and resolving an issue on PlayStation 5 where adjusting HDR settings had no effect. Other fixes included preventing the Delamain cab from becoming stuck after a collision, correcting instances where enabling Film Grain had no effect, and resolving issues with the Third-Person Camera controller settings.
