The upcoming patch notes for *Cyberpunk 2077*’s *Edgerunners 2 Update*, version 2.5, have been revealed, detailing a comprehensive set of additions and improvements for Night City. The update is scheduled to launch on PC, Mac (via Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on October 22nd. Players on Nintendo Switch 2 and the Mac App Store version will receive the update in the subsequent days.
New Narrative and Roleplay Content
The update introduces substantial new content across several areas of the game world. Players can take part in a new side quest called “Clampdown,” which takes place chronologically before the events of *Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2*. To unlock this quest, players must first complete “The Heist” and finish two gigs associated with Wakako, followed by receiving a specific message from her.
Additionally, a new 5-piece gear set, based on the character King, is available for acquisition during the “Clampdown” side quest. The game world also receives a newly added radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, which curates a selection of tracks originating from the *Cyberpunk: Edgerunners* series.
Cosmetics and Character Customization
A significant expansion of customization options is available, allowing players to “show off” their unique style in Night City. Five new outfit collections are available for purchase from various clothing vendors:
- Maxiwear: Found in Heywood, Arroyo, and Little China.
- Jinguji: Available in City Center.
- NetWatch: Available in Kabuki and Japantown.
- IconAmerica: Found in Pacifica, Badlands, and Northside.
A sixth set, the NUS Infiltrator, will also be sold by clothing vendors in Kabuki and Japantown. For vehicle customization, four new TWINTONE skins for the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech are accessible through Twitch Drops. Roleplay depth is enhanced by making several hairstyles, previously exclusive to Non-Playable Characters (NPCs), available to V. Players can now also customize their hand cyberware at one of five designated Glamdocs (marked with a spray paint icon on the map). Each Glamdoc offers a unique shop experience, including an introductory scene, voiceover, and animations, and features a unique catalog of cyberware skins with customizable color options.
In terms of gameplay, the new “Double Trouble” perk in the Cool tree (which is accompanied by four auxiliary perks) introduces a new playstyle, allowing characters to dual-wield both Pistols and Revolvers from the Power category. Furthermore, Photo Mode has been updated with frames taken from the Cyberpunk Trading Card Game, and new poses have been added to showcase dual-wielding abilities.
World Expansion and Gameplay Features
The world itself is being upgraded with new narrative experiences. Players can embark on a journey to uncover a mystery and receive a guided tour of Night City with the “Welcome to Paradise” side quest. This quest becomes available after completing “The Heist” and reaching a Street Cred level of 15.
The Tarot menu has been expanded with 12 new Minor Arcana Tarot Cards. These cards are part of a new side quest that extends the “Fool on the Hill” narrative, which activates upon scanning any of the new cards. Collecting all of them rewards the player with a special item.
Technical and System Improvements
Technical and System Improvements
The patch introduces major technological support additions, including compatibility with DLSS 4.5. This feature supports up to 6X Multi Frame Generation or Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, alongside the 2nd Generation Transformer Model. For enhanced visual experiences, the game now supports glasses-free 3D effects on compatible Samsung Odyssey 3D monitors, featuring a Motion Comfort setting to balance depth perception and viewing comfort.
Additional technical improvements include support for MetalFX Frame Interpolation, a toggle in settings for FSR Anti-Lag 2, and various performance optimizations, including enhancements specific to Ray Tracing and the PlayStation 5 Pro. The developers also improved HDR rendering to ensure more accurate color, brightness, and contrast on compatible displays.
Quality of Life Enhancements
Several quality-of-life improvements streamline the player experience. In the “Load Game” menu, saved files are now organized by separate playthroughs. The game also features item filters for both apartment and vehicle stashes. Furthermore, modded saves in the “Load Game” menu will be identifiable with a dedicated icon. On console platforms, a Field Of View (FOV) slider has been added, and the selection of AMD FSR options has been updated, retaining FSR 2.1, FSR 4, and FSR 3.1 Frame Generation while removing FSR 3 upscaling.
Cross-Platform Mod Support
A significant feature addition is Cross-Platform Mod Support, powered by mod.io. This marks the beginning of cross-platform modding, allowing players to browse and install select player-created modifications directly from the in-game menu. This feature will become available across PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, with more mods expected over time.
Bug Fixes
The patch addresses numerous bugs and issues, including a fix for a problem on the Nintendo Switch 2 that could cause “Save failed – insufficient space” errors. On the PlayStation 5, an issue where adjusting HDR settings had no visible effect has been corrected. Additionally, several gameplay bugs were resolved, such as the Delamain cab potentially becoming stuck after colliding with another vehicle, which could interrupt quest progression. The developers also resolved issues where enabling Film Grain had no effect, and where scanning enemies while tagging could cause V to incorrectly crouch or stand up depending on the control scheme used. Finally, various typos in multiple languages were corrected, alongside other fixes for features and content introduced since Patch 2.1.
