CORSAIR has acquired the assets of Trak Racer, a manufacturer specializing in racing and flight simulation equipment. This strategic move significantly expands CORSAIR’s capabilities within the simulation gaming market, enhancing its portfolio with various cockpits, seats, mounts, and accessories.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen CORSAIR’s existing relationship with the Fanatec brand. By combining their offerings, the company can now provide a more comprehensive, end-to-end sim racing setup that ranges from core electronics to full physical rigs.
Company Background and Market Reach
Trak Racer is a designer and manufacturer of gear used by professionals, hobbyists, and content creators for both sim racing and flight simulation. Their catalog includes items such as cockpits, seating units, display mounts, motion systems, and numerous accessories for various simulation and racing games.
In the simulation gaming sector, which is noted as one of the fastest-growing categories, Trak Racer’s product line greatly expands the offerings available to CORSAIR. While the Fanatec brand focuses on the electronic components necessary for realistic simulation—including wheelbases, shifters, pedals, and steering wheels—Trak Racer provides the physical structure, such as tubular and aluminum cockpits, racing seats, and mounting systems.
Trak Racer was established in 2008 by Matt Sten and has cultivated a dedicated following among simulation enthusiasts. Both Trak Racer and Fanatec share long-standing connections to Formula 1, a relationship the combined entity plans to further develop.
Global Distribution and Flight Simulation
Previously, Trak Racer primarily sold its products directly to consumers via its own online channels. Joining CORSAIR grants Trak Racer’s cockpits and simulators access to a much wider global market, utilizing CORSAIR’s established retail and distribution network.
Furthermore, the acquisition provides CORSAIR with its initial strong presence in flight simulation. Trak Racer’s TR550 Flight Simulator serves as a foundation in this category. The engineering principles that ensure robust racing rigs—such as precise controls, solid frames, and advanced haptics—are directly applicable to flight simulation devices.
