Public Service Division (PSD) announced on Tuesday, June 23, that civil servants in Singapore are slated to receive a mid-year bonus equivalent to 0.45 months of salary. The announcement also specified that junior-grade officers will benefit from an additional payment of up to S$400.

Mid-Year Bonus Structure and Special Payments

According to the PSD’s media release, all civil servants are eligible for the mid-year Annual Variable Component (AVC) amounting to 0.45 months. Furthermore, some employees will receive supplementary one-time payments on top of this standard bonus.

Specific increases have been allocated based on grade: those in grades equivalent to MX13(I) and MX14 are set to receive an extra S$250. Meanwhile, personnel classified in grades corresponding to MX15 and MX16, as well as those belonging to the Operations Support Scheme (OSS), will receive a greater supplementary amount of S$400.

Economic Performance Influences Bonus Quantum

The level of the mid-year AVC payout was determined by considering Singapore’s economic performance during the first quarter of 2026. Additionally, the PSD noted that “downside risks” to the nation’s overall economic outlook remain substantial and were factored into this decision.

As a contributing factor to clouding the forecast, the United States-Israel-Iran conflict was cited. The determination of year-end payments will be handled through collaborative monitoring:

The public-sector unions and the Government will jointly monitor the developments for the rest of the year and calibrate the year-end payments accordingly.

It will also take into consideration the National Wages Council’s guidelines, set to be released later this year.

Economic Overview

In broader economic news, the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) reported in May that Singapore’s economy expanded by 6.0% on a year-on-year basis during the first three months of 2026. Despite this growth, MTI has maintained its gross domestic product (GDP) growth forecast for the entire year at “2.0% to 4.0%.”

Furthermore, advance estimates from the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) indicated that the labor market remained “resilient” throughout Q1 2026, although the rate of employment growth slowed compared with the fourth quarter of 2025.

Comparison to Previous Year

Last year’s mid-year bonus for civil servants was slightly lower at 0.4 months. Junior officers similarly received up to S$400 more during that period. The total annual bonus package for 2025 amounted to 1.7 months, calculated from a 1.3-month year-end bonus and the mid-year payout. Consequently, junior officers were eligible for one-off payments of up to S$1,000 for 2025.

The public also noted that:

S’pore civil servants to get pay increase of 2-9% from 1 Aug, about 22,000 to benefit
