During Anthropic‘s annual developer conference held in San Francisco, CEO Dario Amodei revealed highly ambitious growth forecasts for the artificial intelligence company. While initially planning for approximately 10 times expansion this year, Mr. Amodei stated that the firm’s trajectory could instead achieve a growth rate of up to 80 times.
Current Performance and Revenue Metrics
Anthropic is recognized globally as a leading AI startup, known for its Claude chatbot and proprietary coding tool, Claude Code. The company recently provided an update on its financial standing: last month, Anthropic reported that its annual revenue run rate had surpassed US$30 billion. This figure represents a significant increase compared to the US$9 billion recorded at the close of 2025.
Despite this rapid expansion, the company faced challenges related to infrastructure. Amodei noted that the explosive growth has greatly intensified Anthropic’s demand for computing resources necessary to deliver its AI products to customers. Addressing the sheer scale of their growth, Amodei remarked, “I hope that 80-times growth does not continue because that’s just crazy and it’s too hard to handle,” adding that the company is striving for what he called “some more normal numbers.”
Securing Computing Capacity with SpaceX Deal
To meet its surging demand for processing power, Anthropic has executed several major agreements with technology industry leaders. At the conference, the company announced a significant partnership with SpaceX. Under this deal, Anthropic gained access to utilize all computing capacity housed within SpaceX’s Colossus 1 data center, located in Memphis, Tennessee.
This arrangement grants Anthropic compute power equivalent to more than 220,000 Nvidia AI chips, and furthermore, it paves the way for collaborating with SpaceX on developing AI data centers in outer space. While Anthropic declined to disclose specific terms of this agreement, they emphasized that such partnerships are essential for securing computing resources.
Industry Commitments and Future Scope
Amodei reiterated that the company is working continuously to acquire additional compute power, using “compute” as an industry term for processing capability. He highlighted that the SpaceX deal, among other efforts, will enable Anthropic to expand the coding tasks available to some Claude Code subscribers before they encounter a usage limit.
Beyond the immediate computing infrastructure needs, major investors continue to back the company: Google, which has maintained a long-term investment relationship with Anthropic, committed up to an additional US$40 billion. Separately, Amazon also pledged a potential investment of up to US$25 billion.
